0800 043 6644Past owners include the children's author Enid Blyton, and it was under her stewardship that the club added the nine-hole Dene Course to the original Purbeck layout. The Purbeck may only measure 6,295 yards, but there is no shortage of menace in the shape of the heather and devilish bunkers. Arguably the most picturesque course in the area, the Isle of Purbeck is a firm favourite on Bournemouth's excellent golfing trail.

Very friendly welcome, wonderful views, showing signs of wear on paths and some green approaches. Quite hilly and on the day of our visit in June, some challenging, icy north winds which made us all buy hats!
beautiful coarse, very scenic signage was poor, was not immediately apparent would have expected map on Tee Box considering the amount of blind holes there are Would love to play again
Excellent golf course and great views one of the best I’ve played
Purbeck suffers horribly in the dry weather. An already tough course is made close to impossible with rock hard fairways that slope - a good drive can easily see a ball roll and roll until it’s lost. Appreciate the club can’t help the weather but we won’t play again in the summer months.
Stunning views, layout is outstanding. Greens a touch too long but was told on the day they was being cut the next day for first club comp of the year. Would travel back to play again in a heartbeat.
Given the weather conditions we had a great day. Course was exceptionally wet but held up very well. Views were amazing but it is a tough course, walking and playing.
This course is always a challenge especially in the wind but loved it
Overall it was good and staff were friendly and obliging
Bone dry,brown,and likely lost balls.
Beautifully kept and maintained course with spectacular views. Staff were friendly and helpful, all round a great experience.
Greens were dreadful
Sadly we only managed 6 holes as the pouring rain was relentless , on reflection we probably shouldn’t have started but what we did was good and the views would have been stunning if not shrouded in mist.
One of the most scenic looking courses ive ever played. A very interesting layout. Greens were a bit slow but was ok considering it was April. Would highly recommend playing here.
For the time of year the course was in very good condition. This is a course everyone should play not just for golf but the views are exceptional
A joy for the views alone. Some really great holes and very individual. Unfortunately the fairways were in terrible condition however they have covered the whole course in seed so with the right weather conditions should improve.
All the staff made us feel very welcome and we would all recommend the full English breakfast before play. Lovely golf course with spectacular views. Unfortunately the fairways have obviously suffered with the drought and the club is obviously working on them, but it didn't detract from the day.
Great course, beautiful views, greens in good condition, fairways are being worked on so should improve very soon. Overall we really enjoyed the two rounds we had there. Will definitely return.
Wonderful views and course great track
The rain had stopped! Fabulous views, just stunning. Impressed with greens but the fairways were poor, we decided amongst ourselves to play preferred lies. Very slow group of visitors in front were obviously putting cards in for Hcp because they putted out everything even their 2nd and 3rd balls!
Three or four fairways have died off, presumably in drought of 2018, and club have not re-seeded/been allowed to re-seed. Clubhouse is nice but there are limited practice/warm up facilities.
amazingly beautiful course set on the south coast peninsula - lovely facilties with a very welcoming team - we all loved it
Personally I had a great day there ( mind you I won the day ). All our other golfers enjoyed the course, even though it was a little slow, due to some of the older players finding it hard going!!! The course is a great challenge.
Fantastic setting great views. Fairways not in best condition at moment but worth playing.
I have played Isle of Purbeck quite a few times so know what to expect views are amazing good layout can be a bit tough for higher handicap players greens were excellent but most fairways very dry pick wipe and place in place. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
This is a difficult course. The fairways are poor due to the type of land the course is built upon. Greens are slow but true. Driving is a challenge with gorse, heather and bracken to get over.
The location of the course is breathtaking with fantastic views over the coast, Poole and Bournemouth however, if you are a high handicapper take a lot of balls as long carries, lots of heather/rough it could spoil your round. Buggies a must.....
The views from the course were spectacular. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the round. Thanks very much Sam for recommending it.
Very warm welcome from Pro. Practice facilities ok, though we had to go and pick our own balls up (at least they were free). First couple of holes a bit dull, but the course opens up after the first 4 holes or so and becomes really good fun. Greens in great condition but some of the fairways have been burnt over the summer. Really enjoyed it.
Some of the best views over Poole Harbour and The Isle of Wight.
Golf pro on reception not helpful ( he knew it was our 1st time but was neither welcoming nor have any info without prompting) Players in front very slow - (almost 5 hour round) but no Marshall to speed things up Greens and fairways average
Great course and lovely setting
They are the best views of any golf course in UK, some great holes, but fairways bear (lift and place in operation). A great shame if the course condition was better it would be a must to play.
Great course! Must play! Tough for beginners, but amazing setting and views! Bit of a shame there was no halfway house. But a great great course.
The views are fabulous, greens and tees are in good condition but the fairways are poor hence preferred lies. However we knew this in advance and it did not really detract from the experience. The pro shop staff again very friendly and welcoming.
The most picturesque course in the area, beautiful views from many holes. The fairways are really struggling and don’t have much grass on them. This I believe is due to an infestation of leather jackets. The greens were quite slow and long but it was still worth playing if for the views alone.
Great course for the views of Pole Harbour, Sandbanks and toward Bournemouth. A tricky course and a hard walk, enjoyed it, but not sure we would play it again. Managed to get the tee time close to our original requested time and we had an enjoyable and relaxed day.
Stunning views , fairways not great but greens were acceptable. A golf course worth visiting just for the views and great friendly service A must visit
Fantastic views but fairways are in poor condition due to the downland location.
A beautifully constructed course. Fairways were a real let down and green also.
Course was in terrible condition. Fairways were awful as were the tee boxes. Greens ok. We will not play again.
The course and location are stunning and the greens are in great condition but the fairways are in a terrible state its such a shame. I don't know if this is down to the tough seasonal weather or bad management but it needs to be addressed. Preferred lies on every fairway says it all. Nice bar and facilities but the service is slow.
Slightly disappointed in the condition of the fairways. Have to be straight as not much room for error. Fantastic views from the course and some great holes . Probably one you need to play but may not rush back
A difficult course made much worst but the strong winds and rain, Would like to play in dry conditions. Great views over Sandbanks
Great views, and set up. Condition was poor.
Having played Purbeck before we decided to play again. It is a quirky course with fantastic views and is more of a natural course rather than manicured pristine track. However this should not be open to the paying public in its current condition. The fairways have no grass only mud, and even on preferred lies you could not find a decent lie. The greens were terrible, tees are shabby and we finished the last 3 holes in the dark as the round took nearly 5 hrs. Unfortunately one to avoid.
Course is currently not in great condition particularly the fairways which are in poor condition. However the course layout and views are superb - just a shame about the fairways but we enjoyed the day.
Great course with stunning views. Tough in the wind but very enjoyable.
Fantastic views on a nice golf course
Great course - super friendly members chatted to us on the course and in the clubhouse. Stunning views and a great test. Course was pretty full though and quite a bit of hanging around. Would love to play this one again.
Horrific.... 5.5hr round. So many blind shots on links course, society in front thought they were in the tour and so walked back and hit balls rather than just hitting provisional on tee. Called Course, they sent a 17y old out to get them to speed up which ended up with an ugly confrontation with the group in front. AVOID on society....
Very disappointed in the course this year as it looked tired. The Buggies were expensive
Great position . Fantastic views . Well kept course enjoyable
This course is the reason we keep returning to Dorset. The course and clubhouse are first class with food and drink reasonably priced. The views from some of the tees are stunning overlooking Poole Harbour and Isle of Wight
