"Chantilly is a heathland style which reminds me of a few tracks in both Surrey/Hampshire - such as Woburn. Be sure to get a yardage book as there are a few doglegs and blind tee shots!"

The phrase ‘with age comes beauty’ certainly comes to mind when describing the Fontainebleau Course. Set in the heart of France’s largest forest and renowned for being one of the country’s oldest, the course has a certain majesty about it as it winds its way through the towering trees.
The course echoes the great heathland course of South-east England and like Sunningdale, Swinley Forest etc. the course is by no means long compared to modern norms. Instead it employs a number of strategically placed bunkers to guard its slick greens meaning accuracy and club selection is key when it comes to approach play.

Here is some info on the most frequently asked questions around golf in France and playing the best golf courses.
The best golf course in France is Morfontaine. Designed originally by Tom Simpson and now featuring some additional touches by Kyle Phillips, this heathland stunner is one that would be very much at home in the Surrey / Berkshire belt with similarities to the likes of Sunningdale and The Berkshire. Another top-rated golf course in France and one that many believe is better is the private Les Bordes. The Old Course is one that is an incredible challenge and for anyone lucky enough to have played it will be sitting very much at the top of their list.
Golf is very popular sport in France with around 600 different golf courses to play and enjoy. Whether it is some heathland golf in and around Northern France at popular destinations such as Le Touquet and Hardelot or heading down South to the incredible vistas afforded in and around the French Riviera, a round or two in France is one that is well-recommended.
