0800 043 6644The Wild Coast Sun Country Club offers a seemingly gentle golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The course has been carefully constructed, designed with the prevalent winds kept in mind, however the slightest change in the wind direction can alter the whole dynamics of the course, making it an exciting challenge.
Although relatively short in length it is considered one of the most testing layouts, influenced by the ever changing winds. The signature Par 3 13th plays across a waterfall to the green, partly hidden by rocks and bush, resulting in a dramatic hole and regarded as one of the best short holes in South Africa.
The rugged terrain runs over hills, ravines, rivers, dams and waterfalls complementing the breathtaking views of The Indian Ocean backdrop, leaving little to be desired from a professional golfers’ point of view, with a variety of golf shots required for each and every hole.
The resort has 390 excellently appointed rooms and suites which all boast views of either the luscious gardens and distant mountainous landscape or out towards the idyllic Indian Ocean. Luxury King and Twin rooms are available with both views with the former featuring a comfortable king size bed, accommodating up to two adult guests and coming with an en-suite bathroom which features a separate bath and shower. Elsewhere in the room guests will find an LCD TV and a fully stocked minibar. For families or larger groups of golfers, the best option will be the Luxury Family room which again can come with either a garden or sea view. This property can accommodate up to two children and two adults across two double beds. The most exclusive offering at the resort is the Presidential Suite; while only accommodating two guests, the opulent suite is as spacious as it is luxurious. Guests can roll out of bed and into the jacuzzi which is set on the balcony which affords the resort’s best views towards the ocean.
There are over 10 dining options at the resort, ranging in cuisines and different environments. Chico’s Buffet is the popular choice for breakfasts and dinners with a varied fresh buffet prepared twice daily. Other restaurants include Wild Curries which specialises in Indian dishes and World of Asia for some Thai. For a more causal bite to eat or quick drink, there are plenty of bars located on-site, serving bar snacks and drinks near the resort’s main attractions.
As it's such a large resort, Wild Coast Sun is a haven for guests wanting to experience a little bit of everything. The Wild Waves Water Park is perfect for families and hugely popular with children as it has some of the best water slides in South Africa, if not the world. Alternatively, if you’ve had a day on the Robert Trent Jones designed course and want to relax, you can head for some traditional African treatments at the Mangwanani Spa. Possibly the standout attraction at Wild Coast Sun is the Wild Coast Casino; its electric atmosphere is buzzing 24/7 and has an abundance of tables and machines to keep you busy.
