Rated the 4th best course in Portugal? More like 4th worst! A course can not live on good design alone. Played course in mid 1990’s and looks like nothing spent to maintain course, club house and practice facilities. Backs of tees falling down, fairway with weeds, long grass or bare patches, greens diseased and damaged. Had buggies break down twice in a round and after many phone calls to office, even had phone slammed down on us. So much for customer service! A ruined round of golf! Avoid the place, go to nearby Dunas or new course at Torre (opening next year).
Troia Golf championship course is situated on the Troia peninsula near Setubal, to the South of Lisbon. It might not be the first golf course you think of when visiting Lisbon, but the highly-rated course, created by the legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr, is worth the travelling time.
Set moments from the Sado Estuary, golfers visiting here can do so by staying at The Troia Design Hotel making this an excellent base for exploring some of the very best golf courses in Continental Europe with Comporta Golf Dunas Course just 20 minutes away.
