Day 1
Arrive in Johannesburg airport before taking the 30 minute drive to Fairways Hotel and Spa. Rest of day at Leisure

Day 2
After breakfast, take the short transfer to Randpark Golf Club for the first round of the trip at the Firethorn course. The course has previously hosted the Joberg and South African Opens and at over 7,300 yards off the back tee it is one for the long hitters, however it does have a choice of 5 tees on each hole.

Day 3
After breakfast, travel to the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington’s East Course. This Championship golf course opened in 1939 but the recent 2017 renovation now means it ranks as one of the best courses in South Africa. It has hosted no less than 20 professional tournaments and is known as the home of golf in South Africa.

Day 4
Time to explore Johannesburg, visit Soweto and the Apartheid Museum. A guided walking tour is the best way to explore the area. Stop by one of the trendy bars or cafes in the Maboneng Precinct.

Day 5
After breakfast, time to tackle the Bushwillow course at Randpark Golf Club. The Bushwillow is not as long as the Firethorn Course therefore preferred by the members and locals. It will still test your game as trees line the fairways and various well placed water hazards are there to catch you out.

Day 6
A day off from golf allows you to explore the World Heritage site The Cradle of Humankind. Located 50km north of Johannesburg this is a huge network of limestone caves where some of the most significant fossils are found. This has allowed palaeontologist to piece together human evolution. The Maropeng Visitor centre gives you a great overview of what to expect.

Day 7
Check out before taking the 150km journey to Sun City Resort in the beautiful Pilanesberg National Park. Check in to Cascades Hotel before spending the rest of the day at leisure exploring the resort

Day 8
Round 1 at Sun City sees you take on the Lost City Golf Course. The course is a spectacular desert style course in the heart of the resort with live crocodiles on the course and a green in the shape of Africa, it really is a unique golf experience. Buggies and a meal at the Halfway house are included in the green fee.

Day 9
Time to test your game on the Gary Player Country Club which is home to the Nedbank Challenge on the DP World Tour. As the name suggests it is designed by South Africa’s greatest player Gary Player and is truly a great golf experience. Halfway house and caddie fee included. After you have finished with your round head back to the hotel to freshen up before you take flight in a hot air balloon for sunset over the Pilanesberg National Park.

Day 10
Back to test your game on the Lost City Golf Club - Halfway house and buggies included

Day 11
A final round at Sun City on the Gary Player course again supported by the local caddies and a snack at the halfway house.

Day 12
Time to leave Sun City Resort for the final part of the experience. After check you can either make your way back to Johannesburg airport to catch an internal flight to Nelspruit airport or you can make the 6 hour journey by car to Lukimbi Safari Lodge in Kruger National Park. If you arrive in time you can check in and go straight out for your first game drive. The experience guide will make this the most unforgettable experience.

Day 13
Prior to breakfast you will head out for the morning game drive to see the animals just as the sunrises. This is the best time to see the animals as they are generally more active than in the afternoon. Relax after breakfast before you head out for the afternoon game drive.

Day 14
Now for the final round of the trip and what a way to finish. Leopard Creek is now ranked No1 in South Africa and you will see why as soon as you arrive. The golf experience is as good as you will find on the continent, playing on the edge of Kruger National Park with the animal noises echoing throughout. The course itself is immaculate. Green fee comes with a shared buggy and halfway house.

Day 15
Time for one more game drive before you check out and sadly head home from what will surely be one of the best golf trips you will have ever had.

My belief is that a golf holiday should always offer so much more than just a round of golf and a hotel. An ability to be able to explore your chosen destination and bring home some cherished memories.
