Royal Nairobi Golf Club

Located just 15 minutes from the centre of Nairobi, Royal Nairobi Golf Club is the ultimate urban golf destination in Kenya. Having been founded in 1906 the Nairobi Club, as it was originally called, is the oldest golf society in Kenya and hosted the first East African Ladies’ championship in 1932.

Originally a 9-hole course with sand greens it was expanded in the 1920s to a full 18-hole layout with grass greens. Today the course stretches to over 7,200 yards from the tips with a par of 72 making it a fine test for all levels of golfer.

Royal Nairobi Golf Club

The 18-hole championship layout at Royal Nairobi Golf Club offers two nines which are relatively flat but pose very different challenges with different soil structures on each.

At over 7,200 yards from the tips the length of the course is its major defence along with several water features that come into play which have been introduced over the past few years. The most significant of these is the introduction of a large dam between holes 15 and 16 which, in addition to making the holes tougher, augment the amount of water available for irrigation purposes.

Some of the toughest holes on the course are the short par 3s but the finishing stretch of 16,17 and 18 makes for a worthy test to golfers of all abilities.
