0800 043 6644Measuring 6,741 yards from the championship markers, Rio Real was designed by Javier Arana, and provides a great test of golf for even highly skilled players, without ever overwhelming the average golfer. The front nine holes are certainly the tougher, with the tight fairways bordered by banks of beautiful trees.
Patience and accuracy are crucial here, but on the closing stretch you can open your shoulders and be aggressive with the driver from the tee. The stunning landscape makes Rio Real a memorable place to play, especially the 4th and 5th holes, which run adjacent to the famous Costa del Sol, affording amazing views of the coastline.

This hole turns into a real challenge when the Marbellan sea breeze picks up. A beautiful hole too, and the golfer is greeted with a spectacular sea view when reaching the green. However, there is much to do until then, with a slight dogleg left from the drive, followed by a lengthy approach shot to a well protected green, with bunkers to the sides and rear. A visually stunning hole, and a draw from the tee would suit this hole well, setting up a less lengthy approach shot.

Realy great. We will come again.Swimming pool could be warmer.
Hotel lovely but pool was cold Not value for money because had to pay for 4 buggies
The hotel is lovely, quiet and tranquil. My room had a great outlook over the 11th hole. Food good, service to match.

Good layout.
Perfect course in beautiful condition A very fair test
The greens were very difficult to read and play as they were very fast. Overall one of the oldest but still one my favourite courses on the Costa del Sol.
More forgiving than the courses at La Quinta.
Played this course a few years ago and not in good shape, played this year after a break and will not playing next year , in bad shape , not worth the money, better courses out there.
The course, facilities, staff, course condition were all excellent. We enjoyed the course immensely.
Great course in fab condition. 6 of us played this & 3 others (Los Naranjos, Cabapino & Valle Ramano) and all agreed this was the stand out venue.
Always a favourite of ours.however they have sold the land on holes 4and 5 and made the course par 68. So sad a great course ruined. However, best greens we played on
Disappointed that the 4-5th holes closed and for sale if our info is correct. Put in 2 par3's to compensate. General opinion is that it takes away something from the course but would go back with reduced green fee.
Everything was perfect, the condition was good, greens are very quick and pace of play was spot on. Can't say anything negative about Rio Real and will play this every time I'm in the Costa Del Sol.
Bit disappointed as the tees had tonnes of sand on them ! Bit untidy around the edges
6 hours to do 15 holes And to top it off got let down with simple shuttles had to get taxis to and from Rio real not happy
Much busier course so a bit slow but much enjoyed
Looked after from start to finish
Very warmly welcome. Excelent restaurant.
Course was exceptional
Been here before --all good tricky course gets better for knowing.
Love Rio Real - does what it says on the tin & this year was in great nick :-) !
My favourite course in the Costa del Sol . Simply wonderful course
A few quirky holes but a good course in good condition with quick greens.
Great course but disappointed that buggies were not included as led to believe Had to pay for 4 buggies
Having played Rio for a number of years all of us thought the fairways were cutting up when playing any club , the grass just seemed to explode and something we have not witnessed in previous years so the members have already agreed that Rio would be dropped if we played golf on the Costa Del Sol.
Fairways and rough were patchy but greens were excellent. Course is a little flatter than some others in the area but would still recommend a buggie. Staff very freindly and a very quick round of 4 hours suggest they don't pack the course out like others.
Well maintained course, tight in places and windy on one day so a bit harder than usual I suspect. The greens, a litany of pitch marks every where, utterly disgraceful. I’m not sure what the management are doing, but certainly not supervising the calibre of golfers they let on the course. At £150+ for a round (2 players and buggy) it does not represent good value. My complaint was met with a shrug of the shoulders🤷♂️
Lovely pine tree lined course with a number of tight drives. Similar in feel to the courses in Turkey. Would play again.
Excellent golf course, generally beautiful with lovely greens. Some very tricky holes with quite a few blind shots with traps for the unwary. We felt more confident the second time round. Knowing where you're going helps. Overall a very enjoyable and well presented golf course.
Great course and excellent facilities.
Excellent
All ok but had a 5 hour round
Easy arrival and book in. Flexible to postpone round 24 hrs due to rain. Course wet due to recent weather and 2 holes closed and cart path only. Greens fast. Friendly bar staff.
Always enjoy Rio real but bar prices are quite expensive
A nice course with good facilities and staff.
Another good looking course with open fairways allowing good drives and forgiving if you missed. A nice mixture of easy to hard holes with some elevated tees downhill to long fairways. Our best course of the week and would play again.
An attractive course and in good condition, some holes are a little close to ajoining tee's however this was not a problem for reasonable golfers.
Great round of golf , nothing to say but a great experience.
I love Rio Real, although they do rate themselves quite high with their attitude. There are course Marshalls whose sole role seems to be to annoy you. Twice we were asked to keep up with the group in front...they were a two ball we were a four and we had no one behind us, it’s not necessary to say anything and take the gloss off.
