We arrived at Lingfield Park a couple of hours before our
tee-time, with first impressions being very positive, seeing the hotel situated
right beside Lingfield Park racecourse. We made contact with the friendly staff
in the pro shop who directed us to the nearby spike bar, where we enjoyed a
reasonably priced light lunch & coffee.

At our allotted tee-time, we made our way to the first tee.
The ground did seem a little wet from the recent heavy rain, but we were all
keen to get started on a reasonably straight forward par three.

As mentioned earlier, the course was indeed quite wet, with
the fairways being a little 'fluffy' which was certainly due to the amount of
rain that had fallen & the staff not being able to cut them. The greens
however were the best we had seen in a long time and although a little slow
they were very 'true,' & in excellent condition overall.

On our return to the hotel, we checked in & were told
that we had full access to the pool, sauna & fitness areas which was a
great bonus. The rooms were excellent, looking out over the racecourse, with
comfortable beds, fluffy towels & tea & coffee making facilities.

Following pre-dinner drinks at the bar (not the cheapest
unfortunately!) we took our places in the restaurant where we were informed by
the waiting staff that we could choose from the a la carte menu, with just a
couple of the choices attracting a small supplement.

The standard of food was excellent, with everyone happy with
their respective choices, particularly the belly-pork in my case!

Following dinner, it was back to the bar where, as mentioned
earlier, the bar prices were slightly on the high side. We were all in a good
mood following the golf & good food though, so we didn't let this spoil the
evening.

The next morning we played our second round, and again found
the course to be on the wet side, due to more overnight rain. The greens
appeared to have had a light cut, and were again in excellent condition.

Although the course was not particularly long, just under
6,000 yards off the yellow tees, quite a few of the fairways could be described
as 'tight', so accuracy is important off the tee. Following on behind our group
was a European PGA junior event that allowed us to see how good we could have
been at an early age had we bothered to practice just a little bit more!

At the end of the round we again retired to the spike bar
where we had lunch and the presentation of the prizes. All were in agreement
that we had had an excellent stay at a first class hotel, with great food,
friendly & attentive staff and a couple of great rounds of golf thrown in
for good measure.

This was the second time we have used Your Golf Travel and
we would most definitely use you guys again...we will just have to wait for the
weather to warm up first!

Thanks again for your help in arranging our golf trip.
