Not a Links course. This is a woods course with trees on both sides of the fairly wide fairways. Still high roughs "in the woods" and lots of bunkers. You need to hit straight to not get into trouble. A nice course, but most of the holes were fairly similar. Nice restaurant with great food.
Ladybank often goes unheralded, given the raft of famous links courses that Fife has to offer. However, this is a top quality heathland course, demonstrated by the Royal & Ancient's decision to host Open Championship qualifying at Ladybank since its nomination in 1978.
Sitting 15 miles from St Andrews and 18 miles from Dundee, Ladybank is perfectly placed to play on your travels will visiting the Old Course and Carnoustie to name but 2 great golf courses. Keeping the ball in play will pay dividends and make sure you aren’t losing shots as well as balls. You are spoilt for choice in the area but Ladybank should be on your list, finish off by having some lunch in the clubhouse that intimidates you with your 2nd shot to 18.
