As the centuries have rolled on, golf has enjoyed a worldwide acclaim thanks to many golfing pioneers who have created moments in time that have set the foundations in place for the game of golf to grow to many far flung destinations - all the way from Cheshire to China and we're here to celebrate that through the Heritage Series.

Golfing Pioneers

As The Home of Golf, Scotland is clearly going to feature heavily on any golfing pioneer list. The Old Course at St Andrews lays claim to being the 1st golf course anywhere in the world and yet it was Prestwick on the East Coast which hosted the 1st Open Championship.

Head into Wales and you'll see the acclaimed links of Conway recognised as the 1st in North Wales while Royal North Devon, Royal Belfast and Royal Dublin all achieving the notable award as 1st in England, Northern Ireland and Dublin respectively.

Europe's Golfing Pioneer History is slightly more recent than that of the UK & Ireland but the courses that were some of the originals in their country have gone onto create amazing destinations for us to enjoy. Penina and it's Henry Cotton Championship Course is the 1st in The Algarve, Las Palmas is the 1st in Spain while Royal Antwerp is the 1st in Belgium.

Head to even sunnier climates and you'll enjoy Minthis, Royal Marrakech and National Golf Club as the 1st golf courses in Cyprus, Marrakech and Antalya as well.

Professional golf has contributed significantly to the growth of golf. This is evident in the likes of Dubai and Mauritius which are very much staples for golf holidays. The 1st golf courses in these countries with Emirates Golf Club and Belle Mare Plage have played host to professional events and fuelled thousands of golfing travellers ever since.
