0800 043 6644The Old Course is actually Saltsjöbaden’s nine-holer, originally conceived in 1926 by Edwin Roberts to satisfy the Stockholm masses’ ever-growing interest in golf, and is still a really good, genuine test.
Added in 1976, Saltsjöbaden’s New Course has developed nicely into a mature parkland test that rivals most in the Stockholm, and is set in the beautiful Erstavik National Park, between the city and the archipelago.
From the championship tees, the New reaches 6,219 yards, which is not greatly long, but there are numerous challenges, particularly the expanses of water which infringe upon the layout.
Situated in Stockholm’s amazing archipelago, the Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden is just a short drive from the historic centre of Sweden’s capital.
The seaside hotel’s rich history began when King Oscar II returned from a trip to Monte Carlo in 1893 with notions of grandeur running through his head. His dream was realized with the Grand Hotel, a luxurious getaway for Stockholm’s city dwellers that now is also a fantastic host to travelling golfers.
The accommodation consists of 140 rooms and suites, most of which afford superb sea views, and are decorated and furnished in the classical elegance evident throughout the property.
The idyllic location and outstanding service are only embellished by the venue’s proximity to both Stockholm and the golfing facilities at Saltsjöbaden, making the Grand Hotel the perfect choice for a golf holiday in Sweden.
Visitors to the Grand Hotel are free to use the gymnasium, while it is also possible to play tennis or go jogging or fishing.
The Grand Hotel’s highly regarded French Dining Room serves refined and elegant high quality cuisine.
The hotel is also easily accessible from Stockholm’s Slussen railway station, which is extremely central.
The hotel is an excellent business destination; the biggest of the 19 conference rooms can accommodate up to 275 delegates.
