0800 043 6644Since its inauguration in 1945, Estoril has been the host of the national amateur championship on some 60 occasions, while the Mackenzie Ross designed layout has also welcomed the European Tour's finest for the Portuguese Open on 20 separate occasions. Some of golf's most famous names have graced Estoril's fairways, and presents a testing proposition in a beautiful location, bordered by eucalyptus, pine and mimosa trees.
The course and clubhouse allow visiting golfers to enjoy spectacular views over the Atlantic coastline, embellishing the experience of a round at Estoril.
Good course but with mega fast greens and tricky approach shots. We managed to get early tee times so had fast play averaging 3 hr 15 mins. Nice touch that the course offers a shuttle for players on the 16 as there’s a long steep climb to the 17. Keeps speed of play. Lovely half way house at the 12 . Enjoyed the course and didn’t feel the need to play elsewhere over our 5 rounds. Good food at the 19. Helpful and friendly staff… well done.
slow pace on the Sunday but behind inexperienced players pace about right on the Tuesday. Both morning starts. Course good condition and greens speedy! A great break away with some added sunshine for a bonus
We enjoyed this course so much we booked it for morning before our flight home, both days wer like playing middle of summer back home not a bit of dirt on our golf shoes at end, you need to play this fantastic course.
Fairways and greens were pure - nicest course we have ever played!
Fully enjoyed our round. Gentleman at check was very friendly and informative. Also caddy master was a friendly chap. Course in good condition, best of the three we played in the area. Only a short course but good fun to play. Would play again. Chatted to a member from Denmark who was very friendly. Clubhouse was old but had character and outside seating area was good.
Very enjoyable. Not long but you had to manage your way round each hole. A good challenge.
this is a great course for societies as its quite sort in places , Par 3s are excellent.
Lovely game , Surprise Tours made us wait 45 mins having agreed a time to collect us this was disappointing having had a lovely game .
Able to get off early no delays very nice course .
Great course in fantastic condition and would highly recommend to anyone looking to play a game in the area. Staff in reception and the bar we first class.
YGT told me 30 buggies reserved. Only 4 were!
Course beautiful apart from one bare green. Clubhouse had lovely old world feel about it. Much appreciated drink/food there afterwards.
I am relatively new to golf which might explain my rating of the difficulty. It is a very well maintained course. There are a lot of tress and bushes and so a lot of lost balls. However there were people selling good condition found balls at 10 for 10 euro of which I availed myself. Overall this is a very good challenging course
lovely course undulating a buggy is a must its well laid out lots of trees so try to hit straight
Excellent greens. Got stuck behind competitors a few times. Not championship fairways but a good challenge Buggies can't be precooked so check availability if you want one
Staff were all fabulous. Not the longest course but challenging with some interesting holes.
Little rough around the edges but Fairways and greens were in very good condition. Some very tight holes required careful course management. All in all, a very enjoyable round of golf. Drinks and food good and reasonably priced.
All enjoyed this course.
Lovely course, the green had been worked on so were a bit bumpy but apart from that we enjoyed the course 👍
Short, tired clubhouse, old style course. not Portugal's finests. Some scenic holes.
A course / club in need of some investment. Probably reliant on its former status as a Portuguese Open course. Greens were poor condition but fairways generally good. An interesting layout. No course marshalls, painfully slow round with the group in front still on the tee on nearly every hole when we arrived.
Have played this short but tricky course several times. The greens were not so good this year. Also the 8th hole is being redeveloped so another hole was squeezed in its place which meant back to back par threes.
A lovely course that looked a little in need of some work on the Tees. Very picturesque and varied holes.
The layout of the course is terrific but the condition fell well short of this standard. Winter weather had no doubt taken its toll but it was clear that there have been years of neglect.
Sadly Estoril is not in good condition. they have neglected the course. they have created a small par 3 hole which is a bad hole. we cant see how that hole can be incorporated poermanently into the course. there is a major apartment development in course of construction which has taken one of the quirky par 3 holes away. the buggies were in need of replacement and felt like they might run out of charge at any moment. we will will not go back to estoril which is a shame because it is a course we liked. the pace of play was dreadful i.e. 5 hours and as we teed off at 2.25 we only just completed the 18 holes.
A bit tired and old - a lot of walking between holes - particularly when you have to cross the motorway - they got a cart over to take us back over the road after 16- which was the highlight of the round
Usually one of our favourites but the whole round was spoilt by there being a fourball tournament ahead of us involving many players who were exceptionally slow. We were chatting to two groups of three members behind us who ended up being a six ball and we as a three were still holding them up, but they understood the situation and bailed after 7 holes. At times there were 4 groups on some holes, felt really sorry for the two ball in front of us following the tournament. We had to miss 16th and 17th to ensure we could return our car and get to airport in time for flight. It is a lovely course with fantastic greens and fairways but further disappointment as there is a temporary 90 yard hole while apartments are being built across what was part of the 8th. Will be rebuilt and should be back to normal next year.
Slow 5.5 hr round.
Course was short but contained some nice holes with a lot of bunkers. Course was in a good condition.
Love this club, very traditional, service very good, course was in good condition, practice area very good. true greens (a little slow). I had a lovely day here. We love to play here again
What a sad course given its history. It is being left to go to ruin. The club house is tied and the areas off the playing surfaces are not great. The layout of the course is brilliant it's such a shame is being let go. The barman said we course is loosing a lot of members which speaks itself.
Great course for holiday golf
Every day very windy nearly impossible to play . It was gale force possibly 40/50 MPH . very disappointing
An old course that has seen better days. There is a lot of development (houses etc.) going on. I think this is starting to affect the experience for the golfer but hopefully once complete they will bring the course back into top condition. It has some lovely holes but some I.e. short par 3 that are below standard. The greens were excellent, very fast and difficult hole positions. There is a very long walk between 2 of the holes (9 and 10?) which added to having to wait on most holes. Halfway house (but at about 13th), water, beers and snacks). I didn’t go in the pro shop but was told it was sparse. Club house was excellent for a couple of post round beers.
Wonderful course, well watered to provide lush fairways and excellent greens. Average to hard for difficulty rating we thought. Nearly every hole could catch you out if your not careful with some fabulous looking holes. Food and cold beer from the club house great and you could easily rent clubs at course if needed.
Nice layout but hilly with a huge walk from 8 to 9. Only 3 buggies available at 11am that meant 10 of us had to walk. Course in good condition.
Another good course that we have played several times and would recommend and play again. Difficult enough to challenge but fair to give opportunities to score well.
The course was not in good condition taking into account you would not expect it to be in prime condition in January. They did not have electric trolleys and it is quite hilly so it was hard work pulling a trolley. Our party would definitely not want to play it again.
My personal favourite. Not a long course but quite a challenge. Fairways and greens (very fast) are fantastic,a very lush green which is some achievement in a dry area. It is an old club (1929) and despite it having many visitors it manages to retain the aura that it is a members club. Clubhouse is a traditional one where there is a decent selection of food. Swimming pool avalaible for those that would like a swim. Always a pleasure to play here.
Preferred option of 4 courses played .
Great course, in fantastic condition, if you stay straight very playable but if you wonder can be a very long day, great club
A tight course but well presented
A great experience of a true members golf club Wonderful condition and greens were superb A buggy is recommended as a long walk but overall would return in a heartbeat
Fantastic course. Greens were fast and fairways were lush. One of the best courses I and our party have ever played. Can’t recommend it high enough.
Very busy at this course on the day we played
Great greens with some tricky holes. Need a buggy and friendly people at the clubhouse.
Enjoyed the course. I played well some days and poorly others. It was in good condition and ideal for "holiday golf". My second visit and look forward to going again.

Excellent
This is the second time I have played Golf do Estoril. It didn't disappoint the first time, and it didn't disappoint this time. Very established course.
The course was very undulated so it was more like target golf. Because it was not a long course lots of waiting between shots. 1 round took our 4 ball 5 hours. Would recommend buggies. The course itself is in good condition and picturesque but lots of hazards off of the fairways. Bring plenty of golf balls. Could do with a Marshall on the course on its busy days. Challenging but enjoyable. The bar area was small but provided you with a variety of refreshments. Could be slow service on their busy days.
Quite a hilly course, they actually provide a trailer and buggy to take those on foot from 16th green to 17th tee.
staff were super helpful. course was in excellent condition and you really needed to think your way around. Great value for money!
Lovely course with great views. Well kept.
Found course testing but i am new to golf. Bar available but no restaurant or snack bar so if there all day, nowhere to get lunch
I think it was this course or maybe Lisbon Sport that had very badly maintained buggie paths. Seemed very tired around the edges.
Another excellent day at a truly older well established course and when I say hard I mean challenging you paid the course the respect it deserves. Staff and facilities again were excellent so we were able to get refreshments / snacks before teeing off and the bar was open when we finished so drinks available etc. 10/10
Really enjoy playing this course and have done so many times. Was a slow round due to a large booking and unfortunately the starter was not ensuring the groups were moving along off the tee on time. A course marshal would be useful as slow play was frustrating.
It's a good course. Greens and Fairways good. Tee boxes poor. Staff friendly. Clubhouse food/beer good. Not too far between holes. Organised buggy from 16 to 17 essential!
Everyone who worked at the club were fantastic. Course was easy tee to green but extremely difficult once on the greens.
A warm welcome at this gem of a course. I would recommend hiring electric trolleys as some ups and downs. Definitely one to be revisited.
Nice course, friendly staff, good day all round!
It’s our favourite course we had two rounds on this course excellent as always
A true test for mid to low handicappers. Incredible greens and all holes are individually challenging. Great lunch on terrace with sea views
Good course, pleased I rented a buggy.
Lovely golf course with a beautiful old fashioned style clubhouse which served great food. The greens were immaculate. Some good challenging holes.
Excellent course condition and razor quick greens. Short course but some really interesting holes
Short but don’t let that fool you - brilliantly designed, immaculate fairways and perfect greens.
Unlike previous visits the course experienced little traffic so played at a very reasonable speed . The greens were excellent and very fast . Tees were not in good condition .
Fantastic course ( although not long) with a great clubhouse in the old tradition of golf clubs. The greens are superb and quick, the fairways are like velvet, how they manage to keep it in such good condition is amazing. People may worry that you have to cross a motorway for some holes, fear not it makes no difference to the great experience. One of my all time favourites.
Having played it before it didn’t disappoint.its an excellent layout and in excellent condition.freindly staff and we also had food and drink which was very reasonably priced would definitely go back again.
Lovely old fashioned course, looks easy but you won’t make a fool of it.
Day one we followed a competition and didn’t finish 18 holes. Day 2 better with an earlier tee time - 1440hrs was too late
Once again all the staff at the course were so helpful and professional I would definitely come back
Good course Greens were ok needs a general tidy up in all areas
Nicely laid out course , in generally very good condition for time of year - not the longest course but no worse for that ! Some lovely elevated tees with holes laid out below you , very playable and a decent challenge for most levels of golfer
What a course. Superb test and greens were amazing. It rained but they were still quick! Despite it being short in length it was tricky and a great test. We followed three groups of women who took forever and they’d let another group in without booking which made it a 5+ hour round! Great course to play and worth doing it again! My eagle 2 on 278 par 4 was highlight with a drive to 4’. Strange thing was the stroke index by hole though - some Real odd ones!
Enjoyed the course. Greens were excellent. Club house was disappointing, needed a bit of TLC
As per my first review
We had chosen to play a 36 hole competition at Estoril by playing the course on two days of our trip. We had enjoyed it 2 years ago hence our return. Cracking course and a fair test.
Enjoyed this course Buggies too expensive
Course was very very busy which caused a very slow round. The course itself was great
Very good course, and close to Hotel Palacio, which offered a very good shuttle bus service.
Ridiculously slow - we had to come off the course on 16 in order to make our return transfer to the airport as it was so slow. Would only play again if we could get our early!
Great courses thx
Great condition. Great staff. Buggies expensive but worth it. Greens first class
Homely traditional clubhouse, quite old school feeling to facilities and a limited proshop but friendly and helpful staff. Short, hilly but challenging course with intriguing greens and bunkers with different sand to keep you on your toes! No feeling of going up and down here - every hole needing a wide range of shots and clubs with some narrow tees, undulating lies, raised greens with plenty of borrows. Great fun but not for the golfer who likes booming the driver into next week as it could prove to be a round that uses up a lot of balls ........
Good golf course, in good condition however the clubhouse is a little tired. Disappointing to see players not repairing pitch marks which had an impact on a lot of the greens.
Super golfcourse with wonderful holes en supergreens !! Best course we played
The buggy request had not been received and we were told there were none available despite a row of buggies outside. Only after we cancelled the tee time and walked out did they come after us and offer a buggy. The front nine holes are interesting but the back nine, over the motorway are not. The two finishing holes are poor.
Greens that are a challenge in their own right and a course in exceptional condition
It was a fun couple of rounds but I guess I was expecting something different.
A very interesting course which holds your attention throughout the round. There is no repetition of holes. It was in good condition and we enjoyed playing it.
Really interesting holes and beautiful scenery
Fun course quite short but enjoyable
Absolute pleasure to play this course superb greens , probably the best greens ive ever played on , the whole group had nothing but praise for the course
great course ticked all the boxes loved the different types of holse and has some fantastic par 3s
Great course, I have rated it as hard because we played off the white tees which made it that much more difficult for most of us. Have played there before and throughly enjoyed the experience both times. Buggies reserved and were there for us.
acceptable, see above
very nice course, great greens and generally the fairways in good condition for the time of year and the usage they were having.
Very satisfactory for the level of my golf.
Really enjoyed this golf course. Very traditional course with many interesting holes. We were booked to play twice and actually arranged via the hotel to play a 3rd game. The caddy service was useful and the buggy service between 16 and 17 much appreciated. Better VFM to book a game direct with the hotel and at this time of year there were plenty of tee times. We were coupled with other players on two of our games and managed to book to play alone on the 3rd occasion.
Nice
Nice traditional parkland course, well presented and maintained. I played this after 4 rounds at hard championship courses and it was a pleasant game. The first hole is a bit bland but then the rest of the course is a gem. The halfway house was lovely, I've never had tea served in china cup and saucer before. Chatted to some members who were very friendly. I needed a buggy as I'd twisted my ankle on another course but it is walkable. There is a free shuttle from the 16th up the hill to the 17th, you'll be very puffed if you chose to walk it. I'd play it again as a gentle end to a tiring golf break.
Most enjoyable but very slow play especially on first few holes.
One of our favourites with the fairways and greens being in superb condition, as always. Not a long course but certainly very tricky. As it’s very popular it is always going to be slow as tee times are always fully booked with, possibly, no regard to golfers abilities! Brilliant design around the natural terrain and the whole athmosphere is that of a great members club.
Really enjoyed playing the course. Fairways in great condition. However the greens were extremely difficult.
Excellent - late tee off time so only just finished before darkness, bar closed immediately...
Wonderful course and brilliant greens which were fast! No shorts allowed on pavilion balcony but ok at ground level and nice bar.
A very pretty course winding and up and down. We were too late for buggies and it is a demanding walk. Each hole has individuality, a lovely design.
We booked three rounds but unfortunately because is was too hot (32 degrees centigrade) we only played 10 holes on each of the last two rounds. The sand in the bunkers was very hard. However, hole 13 had some shrubbery and trees cut down from when we last played and the view to the green was much clearer.
Nice course once again all staff very helpful.
Fabulous course! Picturesque views, undulating lush fairways and great greens - our favourite course of the trip.
Our golf party included a range of handicaps from 5 (men) to 36 (ladies) so it was important that the course provided enough challenges for all - which it did. The greens were outstanding and a difficult read which brought its own challenges. The course is relatively short but beautifully maintained with an excellent half way house. Only a 5 -10 minute transfer from the hotel, the location was excellent.
