Taking full advantage of Morocco's spectacular Atlantic coastline, Gary Player has crafted what will no doubt become an iconic course, close to the charming town of Essaouira. The diminutive South African is delighted with the beautiful result of the project at Golf de Mogador, which is set to transform Essaouira into a golf travel destination of genuine repute.

0800 043 6644Looking out towards historic Mogador Islandand the rugged shoreline, Golf de Mogador and the first of its two planned championship courses enjoy a spectacular setting. Essaouira itself is a UNESCOworld heritage site, and while Player's course is no rival in terms of history, its aesthetic appeal is incredible.
Fun and challenging, like many other Player layouts, the first course atMogador is at the heart of a resort development of the same name, and is the idealpartner to local hotels. We recommend the Sofitel properties - one on theresort and one in Essaouira - which form fantastic residential golf holidaypackages.
A bit busy on the first couple of days due to the end of the Christmas and new year break . Course was playing lovely and windy made it challenging . Played six days of six . Great staff in pro shop and caddy master.
We had the seven day package but played 5 times. Practice balls included in the initial costs. Buggies cost less than £30 a day. Fairways wide and edged by maritime pine forest some of which was dense. Greens fast, well watered and a real test as three putted too many times. Some greens elevated which required accuracy and distance control. Hole seventeen difficult for men as a steep slope infront of the tee meant that a false drive could roll back 50 yards or more. Fairway bunkers meant you had to plot your way round the last few holes. Ladies tees always 100 yards infront! A really enjoyable course.
We were fortunate in having picked a quiet week so playing on the course was like "Millionaire's golf". The staff at the Pro's shop were very helpful and most could speak good english. There was a slight hiccup in that on 3 of the days that we were due to play (unlimited golf deal) the Organizers of the Srixon National Junior Championships had extended their original bookings to overlap into our playing days. Howvever the staff at the Pro's shop (Hannah? I believe) went out of their way to make sure that we didn't lose out by providing us with a buggy so that we could move swiftly ahead of play or play later that day when the competition slots were finished. The Course is beautifully maintained, fairways well managed, even easy to find your ball in the rough. Greens were fast and true. We ate lunch at the Clubhouse most days, great food at reasonable prices. Staff were great fun, testing us on our french ... Certainly would love to go back again. Highly recommend it.
The Golf course was excellent as always and in top condition.
