a very good course, bunkers, fairways and rough were excellent and fair, but the greens needed cutting.
Ganton Golf Club in the Vale of Pickering between York and Scarborough ranks among some of the very best of Britain’s inland courses. Over the years Ganton has been the host to many Amateur and Professional events and when some of them events are The Walker Cup, Curtis Cup and Ryder Cup, this is one course you need to tackle like the many greats have before.
Ganton is often misleadingly classed as a heathland course, but its character is more akin to links golf. Located no more than 9 miles from the coast, Ganton was originally called the Scarborough Golf Club, and was conceived by the St Andrews professional, Tom Chisholm.
Ganton is currently ranked in the top 30 of Europe’s Championship Courses and is one that should be on your golfing bucket lists.
