A great 3 day break for 8 golfers. 3 rounds of golf, 2 nights stay, b&b + evening meal, all to a very high standard for a very reasonable price. Fully recommend!

No problems once we got there. The name on your booking summary is one of the longest I've ever seen and implies a new Cambridge GC not Cambridgeshire. We assumed it was a new Club and went to the wrong side of Cambridge! It took us a while to realise that it was the old Bar Hill course which we played a few years ago! We nearly missed it when we finally arrived as there is extensive building work going on. No post code on the Booking Form although reception told us not all Sat Navs recognise it! Once there everything was fine.
On Arrival at the hotel, all the staff from hotel receptionist to breakfast waiters were very helpful and polite The pro shop staff provided an excellent service and very thoughtful on helping out with buggies and tee times The 1st floor lounge bar the waiters were extremely considerate and provided excellent service in coming out to the patio area with drinks The dining manager brought food to the lounge area and provided a table to accommodate our members All members enjoyed the course and wish to return in the future

Excellent staff very friendly - Hotel maybe a bit tired but is absolutely fine no issues - free parking great access to the golf course - food plentiful (buffet breakfast) - lunch was expensive £15 for a hot sandwich- but overall really pleased with our stay
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is basic and adequate. Bed comfortable but a little hard. Bars and restaurant clean and tidy. Limited menu in restaurant. Would rather pay that bit extra and have full menu choice. Food had gone very dry on the first day, so don’t have a latish fried breakfast. Reasonable choice of beverages in the bar. Not all the beers to my liking. Walked to the pub in Bar Hill (only 5 minutes away). Would go back again.

Our first problem was that the address you gave was somewhat incomplete. There is more than one Best Western hotel in Cambridge and you did not give us the full address or the post code. For your information the full address is Bar Hill and the postcode is CB23 8EU. As for the hotel to be honest we were disappointed. The Hotel is somewhat dated and in need of refurbishment. As an example our tea tray in the room had a kettle which should have been at Sotheby’s.(is was in fact dangerous). On day two it finally gave up and was replaced. Also on a 3 night stay with no room service ( COVID) we were given take away cups. As for the restaurant the menu was very limited and very basic in nature. We actually ate out one night to get a decent meal. Finally to the golf course. The golf shop were very helpful in changing our tee time due to the weather. The course was in good condition. The front nine is somewhat flat and boring but with more elevation the back nine was more interesting. So would we return, to be honest no and neither would we recommend it to friends. Sorry to appear so negative but compared to other golf resorts in the U.K. such as Carden Park, Goodwood, Barnham Broome and St Mellion it is not in the same league. Robert and Diane Hollidge
Food was very good on the DBB rate. Dinner menu was not extensive but everything we had was very nice and there was no limit on what we could order for dinner. Continental breakfast was pre-packaged but the cooked full English was very generous. The bed was large and comfortable but the room badly needed decorating and a new carpet which was stained and had bits stuck to it in places. It was also quite cold and the radiator did not work properly. Although we mentioned it at reception nothing was done. The bathroom badly needed updating - the hot tap only dribbled out and we boiled the kettle to get a sink of hot water. We used the shower mid afternoon and that worked OK.
Hotel is ideally situated and easy to get to...once you have navigated the vagaries of the A14!!! On the whole the hotel lacks a decent restaurant and is tired in appearance. However, it wasn't an expensive stay and fairly good value for money
Excellent staff, went out of their way to ensure everything ran smoothly, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms quite hot though and as close to road quite noisy when you opened window.
the rooms are quite basic, but for us thus wasnt a problem. they are quite roomy tho and clean and tidy.
We were a party of 42 (39 golfers) who travelled to Cambridge looking forward to a fantastic Captain's away weekend. We paid just under £4000 for the trip and expected a certain level of service!!!! We arrived at around 11am and headed straight to the 1st Floor bar where we attempted to order drinks and food prior to playing our round of golf. Over parties also arrived during this period. Initially there was just one member of staff behind the bar withpeople waiting anything between 20 to 30 minutes to be served. I myself once served(20mins) ordered 2 tea's and a coffee and was asked to take my seat and someone would bring the drinks over. 45 minutes later my drinks had still not arrived so complained andreceived my drinks. As the lead for our party I went to reception to speak to the manager as everyone was complaining about the extremely poor/slow service. They said they would send up more staff, which they did. One more member of staff arrived but insteadof being behind the bar serving people they were just bringing out the late late orders previously paid for. How a hotel can be run like this is mind boggling. Those that ordered food eventually got their orders, but most complained the food was cold but havingwaited 45mins they carried on as our 1.15 tee time was approaching. - That's the bar issue!!!! We all checked in but got told the air con in the rooms was not working, the rooms were like greenhouses, they did provide fans for some of the rooms but it just pushed the warm air around.
Hotel needs a bit of TLC but the beds were comfortable and the food was very good all you need for a golf trip.
The way the bar is run is very disappointing for a group of 34 drinkers promised a 24 hour bar and not really getting one. Slow service although the main barman was ok
Excellent service from the moment we arrived, staff very helpful, rooms adequate, course good for all levels of golfers , greens decent. Spa was nice as well. Definitely will come back . Bar shut at 12 only downside 😬
My first ever bad review of a YGT hotel but this place rivals Fawlty Towers! Breakfast was ok but that's where it stops, dinner was terrible slop served on a plate by inexperienced staff ,the salad consisted of a load of limp leaves with some cheese grated on top and the white wine served warm after being carried to the table under the waiters arm! The evening in the bar was very busy but only a couple of inexperienced young members of staff serving. Overall this hotel is not suitable for groups of more than 6 golfers.

As a previous visitor, knew what to expect. Only draw-back, was that only one set of towels for the twin room available.
Everybody is Friendly and it’s a very clean quite hotel. The only very slight negative was we had a 15 minute wait at an understaffed bar.

The course was very water logged, the pin positions were mainly at the front where most of the greens slopped to meaning they were in the wettest part of the green. There was also lots of temporary tee boxes.
Really enjoy the course and it's own challenge. No problem with tee congestion. Buggy provided fully charged and helps to keep energy levels going.
Great course. Quite long but still reachable as the fairways are firm. Most of the greens are perfect, just a couple which had been spiked and sanded which you have to expect at this time of year. Green keepers are very friendly and obliging and the pro staff are the same. Full marks!

Got behind a bunch of four-balls playing a competition and we're just 2 in a buggy. They weren't inclined to let us through but it got slower and slower and we abandoned it at the 12th. We then found the 17th & 18th empty ahead of the group and only lost 4 holes in the end!

Excellent greens popular course hence a bit slow but we didn’t mind we are away for the weekend no rush our side - buggy’s in good supply - nice pro shop excellent friendly staff - maybe not the most picturesque, characterful or challenging course in England but very good condition the green keepers should get a well deserved pat on the back would play again 👍
Excellent friendly service. Accommodated our needs. Able to change to an earlier slot on final day and booked buggies when needed. The course was very leafy, due to the time of year. Lost a few balls on the fairway. Bunkers need attention in that they could do with more sand and or a good raking.
Great time was had by the whole group (16 of us) and the staff at the golf course really made an effort to ensure we had a good weekend.

Our original tee time that we had booked and had confirmation from you was 10:06 but were told on arrival it had changed to 10:36 which apparently had been notified to you but we had not received any update. Enjoyed the whole course and was in really good condition although we were held up on the Sunday it wasn't slow,slow! Played this course in the past and I will say the fairways where superb.

Very attractive and well maintained course. Greens were large and of medium speed. We played three days in a row and were neither pushed nor held up. The staff were all very friendly and the director of golf made a point of introducing himself to us. There were two large practice nets and a large practice putting green but no dedicated chipping area for warm up. The wildlife on the course was interesting - we saw woodpeckers, black squirrels and a deer! Thoroughly enjoyable rounds of golf.
Had one round there it was fine been there before . We moved to five lakes as bay western hotel was very poor. Glad we booked through YGT
Course was surprisingly green considering the dry weather we have had. Well maintained tees and greens, all better than we had expected.
we all enjoy this course but unfortunately we went the two g weekend as work was being carried out on the greens, this we understood as necessary, but didn't help with putting.
We had 10 tee times reserved from 1.15pm & and also reserved 6 buggies(bearing in mind we booked this months ago) but the pro shop allowed a group of 16 ladies from the club to push in so we eventually tee'd of at 1.55. The groups in front of us were so slow meaning we waited on every single shot, completing 9 holes in 2 hours 50 mins!!! 16number of the group in front even stopped at the halfway house to 'chat' with no one on an open 10th tee,fairway & green. This was the final straw for me and my 4-ball(1st group out) so we walked in after 9 holes. As mentioned I had reserved 6 buggies, we only required 5 on the Sunday but one of our groups was left without one meaning they could not play(not great on a golf trip). Most of our golfers managed to play 18 holes in around 5 1/2 hours, but with the delay in teeing off we had to delay our dinner until 8.45pm instead of 8pm. The food was the only saving grace from the day, it was very nice with everyone complementing, unfortunately we then had to endurethe bar again with more delays. The Monday started well with the breakfast provided, we tee'd of almost on time, we had all the required buggies, and the round took 4 1/2 hours which is fine. We had pre-ordered sandwiches, chips etc direct with the hotel but again this had not been communicated,so we had to wait another hour for the food. The view of everyone that came on this trip is that the hotel was for whatever reason not prepared for our large group, apart from one young lady behind the bar, all other staff seemed not interested in our issues, no apologies from members of the pro shop.
Course was in good nick,the greens were a bit wet after a heavy downpour, but overall a nice course.
Nice course. Quite challenging. Rubbish bunkers, you could putt out of most of them. Sand was in the main flat and hard. Basically need sand and not gravel

Really nice course-in good condition.Played in October so leaves on the ground as you would expect caused a lot of ball searching! Overall very good value.
Saturday was an average time round, but on Sunday some greens soggy due to rainy conditions. Group before very slow and would not let us through. Great deal with the 50% off buggies which for myself and brother made for easier round and greater enjoyment. Hope to get the same deal next year !
Superb facilities plenty of upkeep going on and some of the Best greens I had played on all year, it has surprisingly many challenges along the course, we had a little slow play due to way too many leafs over the fairways with even some perfect drives were getting lost... could do with a good leaf blower. Right on the hotel this course is just perfect for a weekender/midweek stay.
