Bruntsfield Links course which is the 4 oldest golf club in the world (est 1761). The course was challenging with fantastic views of the Firth of Forth and playing with a fun and very friendly pair of club members greatly enhanced the experience.
Bruntsfield Links, and its Golfing Society, is one of Edinburgh's truly historic institutions, dating back to 1761. The club moved to its current location in 1898 & is only 20 minutes from Edinburgh airport, only 3 miles from Edinburgh city centre and 1 hour from The Old Course at St Andrews. Visitors to Bruntsfield can enjoy a memorabilia collection of clubs, balls and historic paintings which date back to the origins of the game.
The course was designed by Willie Park Jnr with subsequent revisions by Dr Alister MacKenzie in the 1920s and Fred Hawtree in the 1970s. Bruntsfield has hosted many tournaments since including the Senior Amateur Championship, Scottish Mid Amateur Championship, Lothians Championship and was a Regional Qualifying course for The Open between 2011 and 2015.
Bruntsfield Links has recently been re-developed by the highly acclaimed golf course architects Mackenzie & Ebert to establish itself as one of Edinburgh golf's leading organisations.
