0800 043 6644While Banff may be familiar to the avid skiing population, it is also a great golf holiday destination, as the resort boasts a championship course and a nine-hole executive layout.
The original nine-hole layout by Bill Thomson, a Scottish expatriate who apprenticed under Old Tom Morris at St. Andrews, opened in 1911, the course was then expanded by Donald Ross in 1924 to 18 holes.
Canada’s master golf course architect devised the plans for the main championship course at Banff, which was inaugurated in 1928. The course tracks the banks of the Bow River, and is dwarfed by the towering peaks of Sulphur Mountain and Mount Rundle.Ranging from 5,607 to 7,083 yards, the Thompson course is fair and challenging for all golfers, as well as being truly stunning.
Banff also boasts a nine-hole course which is really enjoyable – up to 3,357 yards, the Tunnel is no pitch-and-putt, and is well worth a go during your golf holiday at Banff Springs.
The glorious hotel at Banff Springs boasts 768 outstanding guest rooms and suites, most of which afford outstanding views of the surrounding Rockies landscape. The accommodation reflects the austere luxury that typifies the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel, with luxurious textures and colours throughout.
No matter the room or suite type, the minimum interior facilities include cable and interactive television, high speed internet access, hair dryer and direct dial telephone.
For the complete experience, upgrade to one of the Fairmont’s opulent suites, which ensure sweeping views of the towering Alberta mountains.
Listed by Conde Nast Traveler among other respected reviewers as one of the leading spas in North America, the Willow Stream at Banff Springs is a true haven of relaxation. In addition to the deluxe fitness centre, guests can enjoy an indulgent selection of treatments with the added bonus of sweeping mountain vistas.
The dining options at Fairmont Banff Springs are too extensive to describe fully – rest assured that from fine dining to hearty steak, there is a culinary option to satisfy every desire.
