Anfi Tauro Golf

Designer Robert von Hagge took golf in the Canary Islands in a new direction with Anfi Tauro Golf. The region has plenty of undulating parkland layouts but as good as they are none can compare with this dramatic Arizona-style course that's set in acres of lush green gardens with rich vegetation, lakes and waterfalls and enclosed by impressive volcano shaped mountains.

The conditioning and challenges the golf course presents live up to the scenery, and numerous tees on the course allow players of all levels to enjoy the experience to the full. The round is full of strong holes, most notably the 6th on the front nine, which is a much-photographed short hole playing towards a large pyramid of rock with the ocean behind. On the back nine you play into a canyon in the volcanic rock and every hole provides bucket loads of visual drama as well as some heart-stopping shots.

Set amongst splendid volcanic mountains, lush fragrant gardens and breathtaking lakes, the 9-hole par-3 course holds still further surprises. There's also an international golf academy, a magnificent driving range, an area for chipping, putting greens and several practice bunkers.

The Clubhouse is a beautiful two-story building with comprehensive facilities and a large restaurant with ample outdoor areas where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the golf and the majestic Tauro Valley from every angle.

I honestly had never heard of Anfi Tauro before heading to Gran Canaria but WOW! Over 3,000,000 cubic tonnes of earth were blasted out of the island's volcanic mountains to make way for the course & the resulting layout is like nothing I’ve ever seen.

The course isn’t just visually stunning though. Conditioning wise it was top notch when I was there & the routing & variety of the holes is very impressive. I love elevation change in a golf course & Anfi features some of the most dramatic climbs and drops I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. With that in mind, buggies come highly recommended by me. Make sure you have your camera ready when you reach the high points on the course too!

Accommodation at Anfi Tauro Golf

This is a superb luxury resort with a huge range of varied accommodation options to suit most tastes and budgets along with comprehensive facilities.

What to say.. this course is totally amazing.. which I was lucky enough to play twice. The front nine puts you in a place where you think you are comfortable.. then the back nine blows you out of the water. Being one of the best stretches of holes that you are likely to play.. the course is carved through the rocks and hills and leaves you with many WOW!! moments. Great track which I would be honoured to play again.. Do it.. you won't regret a second!!

4 balls tee off every 8 minutes on a course where a good low hcp golfer will lose at least a couple of balls and those less controlled may lose 10 plus! We played 9 holes in 3 hrs which was a great shame as this was by far the most interesting course in the area. The back 9 was better paced as golfers left the course. The owners would do well to restrict hcps or increase time between flights.

Anfi Tauro is a stunning course which great views.Buggies are mandatory but due to the changes in height we were very glad we had one. Good Points: Interesting Course, great condition, very pleasant and helpful staff. Draw backs: We were lucky but it can get very busy.

Visually stunning course cut out of mountain side. Greens had just been tigned so putting was hard but rest of course in good nick. Hard course with very little give if your off fairways as it rock or very rough ground but some of the holes are incredible

Very Good

This has the potential to be the best of the courses we played. However post covid still needs some time to recover. That said it is a really great course with fantastic holes and views. Some really great shots to take on . Suggest a buggy for this one. With a bit more TLC I am sure it will be back to its best next year.

Played this course five times in one week, as it is a favourite course in GC. Not too busy this time, and the condition is always very good. The greens were sanded during the week, but still rolled true and fast. Superb layout with a mix of stunning and intimidating views off the tee.

We all rated this our favourite course. Sceneary spectacular and very different experience playing holes carved out of volcanic rock. Buggies essential and manditory as huge climbs. Course makes you think but if you played it a couple of times you would be back. Shop very good and we made purchases. Changing rooms do not reflect the course and drinks beside pool in hotel does not really sit well. I would imagine its work in progress but unforgettable round of golf in a really uniqe location. I will e recommending this to my friends.
