Fantastic Hotel very comfortable and staff friendly
Hotel was absolutely awesome and has everything you would want, gym, spa, Golf. Breakfast was fantastic quality and very tasty. Very helpful staff too. Grounds are immaculate as are the rooms. Would not hesitate to stay again.
Every experience of this hotel was superb for room size, comfort & cleanliness. We stayed in the tee tree lodge was very peaceful and relaxing.
We contacted the hotel before we arrived & they arranged for our 4 hotel rooms to be available at 1230, so that the 7 players could change & unpack before we teed off at 2pm. The hotel is a genuine 5 star facility, & they staff are simply brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble, & this quality service is reflected in the prices. This was our second golf break, & we will certainly go again.
We were upgraded upon arrival fab room overlooking golf course absolutely everything we needed even turn down service at night
First time at Rockcliffe, everything was top quality
It was very good the surroundings were magnificent
Hotel was fantastic the staff couldn’t do enough for us , my wife who has food intolerances was particularly impressed that they managed to help her out with her dietary requirements each night
Lovely large room, the staff looked after us amazingly well. The food was delicious. Although we ordered a cooked breakfast, the buffet could be made more of.
This is a beautiful hotel with friendly staff our room was large and comfortable with an outlook towards the first tee We arrived on Sunday in time to play golf in the afternoon We were unable to make a reservation for dinner as the clubhouse restaurant was fully booked with a large party which apparently overloaded the facility to such an extent the Spikes Bar was unable to do food However we did eat in the clubhouse on Monday evening the meal was delicious and highly recommended just make sure to make a reservation in advance of your visit Make time to use the pool and Spa facilities as both are an excellent way to relax after golf
Rockliffe managed to make a complete and utter mess of the meal golf tee times and had no idea of customer satisfaction what so ever
Although I have rated everything 5 star feel I was mislead by YGT . I booked for 4 ladies for one night and 2 rounds. The impression was that we would be staying in the hotel . When I had paid my deposit and received my confirmation I then found out that we were staying in Tiplady Lodge and not the hotel and also discovered that breakfast was served in the golf club and not the hotel . Having stayed in the hotel before and eaten breakfast in the Orangery I was slightly disappointed that we were in the lodge and breakfast in the golf club . I did take this up with YGT who then said I could stay in the hotel for another £30 which I declined . However when we checked in I mentioned this to the receptionist who very kindly changed our breakfast to the Orangery . The Tiplady lodges were very nice but not upto the same standard as the hotel rooms .Think YGT should make it clear where you are staying and where you are eating breakfast before you book and pay your deposit . We ate dinner in the golf club which was very nice and also had a bite to eat in there before our first round . All of the staff hotel and golf are very friendly helpful and professional .
The accommodation was excellent everything was first class
A real gem of a hotel, set in stunning grounds. Really classy bar and Orangery.
Hotel is stunning, rooms are amazing. The spa was really good and great after a round. The golf course was in beautiful condition. Only issue was the length of time it took to get food each day, we were sat waiting for a fair while each time.
Fantastic hotel. Amazing rooms. Good food. Great golf course. Have been here several times. Love this place.
Great hotel one of our favourites. During the winter months bot internal restaurants should be open all the time, only the outside clubhouse restaurant available. Minor issue really as the hotel is excellent.
Staff were outstanding, helpful on anything you ask or requested. Set up for golfers great, near to perfection.
Suberb hotel and facilities. We booked through ygt who made it easy for us. We stayed in the tip lady lodge that is a beautiful annex building the rooms are fantastic. The package with your golf travel included bed breakfast and evening meal with 2 rounds of golf. All meals are taken in the clubhouse not the hotel. The clubhouse is really good. Thanks Tom and ygt great value for money.
My Golf Travel and Rockliffe have been fantastic, as my stay had to be moved many times for various reasons. They moved my booking, with no hassle, or question. We had a beautiful room with terrace overlooking the gardens snd golf course. We ate dinner and breakfast in the Orangery conservatory. The golf was amazing on a beautiful course. We also enjoyed the fabulous spa. All in all a wonderful experience.
Everything was just spot on! Even the weather was fab
Excellent accommodation
I’ve been lucky enough to stay at many of the top golf resorts and Rockliffe Hall is right up there with the best of them. The hotel is quite simply magnificent in every respect. If you’re looking for a place to stay where everything is superbly managed and where luxury is the priority then this is the place to book. You know it’s going to be good when the first thing you see upon arrival is someone sweeping the car park clear of about a dozen stray leaves!!!
Excellent value, golf course was in very good condition and all the staff friendly and helpful. Woodland Mews house was spacious (4 bedrooms). We were a party of eight and we will return in 2022, I thoroughly recommend Rockcliffe Hall and YourGolfTravel, booking was easy and organisation excellent and trouble free.
Excellent hotel with super accommodation in the Tiplady lodge. Room had its own sitting area, fridge and outside seating area. We are in both the clubhouse and Orangery restaurants which were of high quality. Clubhouse is definitely the right option for golfers. The spa area is great and you needed to book as numbers were restricted. One of best hotels we have stayed at in U.K.
Unfortunately as they had serious staffing issues. The hotel restaurant and bar were closed. But we were made very welcome in the clubhouse although a very limited menu. We thought they did a great job in difficult circumstances
Very friendly and helpful staff , really enjoyed it
Fabulous, perfect weekend fitness, golf, spa, lovely food, nice people both staff and gold members.
Excellent suite in the old Hall and parking right in front of the door except one night when we were told the parking was being reserved for VIP's (what were we?). The suite was excellent great view but the whole visit was spoiled by not having the Orangery Restaurant open instead we had to travel in the rain down to the clubhouse which is not 5 star experience. The room service was also not operating when the restaurant was closed except for breakfast which could only be picked from the standard breakfast menu also not a 5 star experience. Sadly I am afraid overall a disappointment.
Excellent 5 star
Room was really nice and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Golf course was in excellent condition but trip was marred by something I ate in the Orangey Restaurant probably the Scallops which kept me up most of the night with D and V. 😫
Perfect from start to finish, the staff were more than accommodating, it's the best YGT trip we have been on and we've done a few ! Would highly recommend and we will go again.
New Government Covid-19 regulations were announced 2 days before our visit, which caused some confusion for one receptionist, but with help from YGT's Harry Clarke,we were changed from one twin-bed room to 2 superb double bedrooms, at no additional cost! Once we arrived, the hotel staff were exceptional, & we could not wish for better service or facilities.
no grumbles at all great place 5 stars aren't cheap so prepare for price difference at bar compared to home, and budget accordingly. food first class, staff great same as local members and don't complain after you've been ,you know it's luxury so enjoy it and don't be grumpy about prices
Fantastic all round experience, can’t fault this venue.
Staff and clubhouse very good food also ....But £ 4.80 a pint a bit much ...so we had a trip into yarm for better value .Why dont these resorts clue up and make the price of beer more affordable then we would not have moved from the bar
Everything about the hotel was excellent, except the ridiculous prices for food and drinks. £32 a bottle for wine and £35 for a fish dish which was delicious but £10 over our allowance for one course. £4.50 for a flat white coffee. We won’t be returning. We like value for money.
Rockliffe Hall Hotel is breathtaking. The New House rooms a delight and the Tiplady Rooms a joy to stay in. Can't fault one thing. The staff are friendly and helpful. Food is just top class too. We will return next year for our golf trip that goes without saying, thank you.
We stayed in the new hall and were kindly upgraded to a room we have used before. Totally excellent hotel with exceptional staff that always look after you well.
All round 5star accommodation and facilities

I played 3 rounds with my wife last week . I must say it was a beautiful in great condition .We found that the length of the course was its defence. its definitely one for another visit .Thanks to Paul Tinker for the organization at short notice
Thoroughly enjoy this course and it was my second visit. Such a good test of golf. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather but when the wind gets up wow this is a tough course to get around. Fantastic scenery and layout.
Superb golf course. Very long and testing with some very picturesque holes. Some great wildlife around the course also.
The Starting Marshall was very helpful & informative. The intervals between tee times was 10 minutes, which was perfect. Fairways were very good, with lots of bunkers. It was easy to l, & extremely difficult ose your golf ball in the rough, or the frequent water hazards. Greens were true & fast (10.5), undulating & very difficult to read. Overall it was brilliant & very challenging!
Golf experience from my partner as I don't play said course was brilliant one of the best he has played on
Lovely course, really enjoyed it. All the team were extremely helpful, friendly and professional
The course was perfect the clubhouse was staffed by inexperienced youngsters and not very customer oriented
Course was in great shape hreens were good and true , we were very lucky with the weather which was perfect all weekend.
Lovely staff at the golf club. Not hilly but long. They kept our clubs overnight and had everything ready on the buggy in the morning. If used to walking round it can be done. The greens were in good condition.
Playing this course in March is probably the wrong time of year to form a fully objective impression The first thing I would say is based on conditions over our 3 round stay is this course is over hyped and was not the wow course expected In cold conditions even off yellow tees it plays very long most greens are surrounded by an array of bunkers which are difficult to play out of with any degree of ball control Greens were quick for the time of year and difficult to read Fairways were suffering from huge areas of wormcasts resulting in poor grass conditions on most fairways From the tee the course is wide open and inviting Overall you need a very long game at this time of year to score well
Everything was good about the course with the exception of the bunkers a lot of the bunkers had way too much sand in them some had hardly any inconsistent throughout the course
From arriving at the club house all of the golf staff were lovely. We all enjoyed our 2 rounds but we are 4 ladies with handicaps between 26 & 34 we all found it quite challenging . Lots of large bunkers , tricky greens and its a long course . On saying that the course and greens are in great condition and although we didn't score very well we all really enjoyed our 2 rounds and our stay
Everyone enjoyed the course immensely we realised it was a young course and the condition can only get better we loved it
A beautifully maintained course, every hole is really interesting, particularly the par 3 5th over water. Greens are well protected. A very long course, but reasonably flat.
Superb course. Challenging. Very interesting. Not easy. But love this course. Fabulous set up. Has some great holes.
Course is a good but fair test, fairly long with large well placed bunker complexes and water.
We played in October so it was in ‘October’ condition (if that is a thing!!).
Wonderful course, in a wonderful setting. We took a buggy as it is very long.
I love this course! I do struggle to play it to my handicap. The fairways are generous but the greens are tough. It is a real challenge.
Excellent course . Only problem was the pin positions. No indication on the flag if front/middle/back .
Firstly, don’t be put off by the course having the rather daunting acclaim of being the longest in Europe as that is totally dependent on which tees you decide to use. If you are the type of player that crunches a driver 350 yards then maybe the gold tees are right for your round but for most of us mere mortals the yellow tees are the ones to use. There are plenty of interesting holes and there’s also a fair amount of water. The greens are well maintained and run true, and it’s worth mentioning that the course isn’t overly tight. The clubhouse itself is a short walk down the hill from the hotel and is superbly managed (much like many of the top American venues). The breakfast we had there was superb with one of our party stating it was the best he’d ever had. The pro shop lads are friendly & efficient. All in all a fabulous experience and we will be returning in the very near future.
The golf course was in excellent condition, we were made aware before we teed off of new drainage on three of the holes but that didn't detract from the experience or the golf. All the staff were friendly and helpful and we look forward to returning in 2022.
Fabulous course with excellent bunkering and interesting holes around water hazards. Course was very quite midweek and we got round in 4 hours. Greens were being treated and were very sandy but ran true. It’s a long walk so some players may need to use a buggy. Fairways reasonable wide so will be playable for all handicaps. The whole package was excellent value for money.
Excellent time really enjoyed. The place has serious staffing issues but they coped well and did a good job. You don’t mind when people are polite and explain why things are very limited. Couldn’t stay more than one night due to limited menu
Stag do and competitions on so a little slow, but first day joined another group, second day got to play through.. lovely course and the weather helped 25-30C
I enjoyed the challenge but my wife found it too difficult and of course too long she hates the par 8's
Great course, only issue was that we had booked two buggies and only one was available...
Best place I have played
Good course with some challenging holes. Well maintained with generous fairways to suit all handicaps.
A good fair test of golf with some interesting holes. I wouldn't fancy playing it off the back tees and if the greens were shaved. It was perfect for us mid handicap golfers and in superb condition
After a prolonged period of wet weather, the course was quite wet, & no buggies were available. However, the electric trollies had gps distance equipment, & the superb greens were unnaffected by the rain, & were very difficult to read. The course is long, with frequent water hazards, & the golf ball did not run far when it landed. However, it was really enjoyable once you accepted you needed an extra shot on par 4 & 5 holes, & we will certainly vist again next year!
great golf course it's a must try, if never been, massive off the really back tees, great off whites or yellow
Some fabulously placed bunkers and water to make this a good test of golf for all abilities!
Bunkers a mess not been raked for days greens very long fairways needed cut just not we are used to at Rockcliffe hall. And for an xtra £5.00 could have gone to Close House. Although warned that some light work had been done on the greens the week before we think it could have been better presented .
A rather boring course with not a lot of variety. We like to walk but too long for that at our age.
Brilliant course. I should have put down 'hard' but that was because of 'our' golf standard, ha! Greens superb, fairways manicured to perfection, the layout is superb, bunkers nicely placed . . grrrr!! Special mention to Andy, the starter, smashing fella. Thank you Paul Gartland from YourGolfTravel.
The course plays longer at this time of year, but is a good layout with many challenging holes. Our second day was superb as the weather was almost tropical for the north east, enjoyed the course and staff were very good as well.
Amazing break from start to finish . Staff and facilities were 5star. Highly recommend you stay and play here
Superb
