The Kintyre Peninsula may not be particularly accessible, being a decent drive from the city of Glasgow, but it does lend its amazing landscape to an extremely spectacular golf course - Machrihanish.

0800 043 6644Constantly ranked in lists of the world's top 100 courses and a top course in Ayrshire, Machrihanish also boasts what is regarded by many as the best opening hole on the planet; standing on the first tee facing a long carry across the bay is without doubt one of golf's great experiences.
The outward nine skirts the shoreline and the beautiful sand dunes of the peninsula, while the homeward stretch takes in views of the South Kintyre hills. Combine this with a breathtaking outlook across to the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha, Machrihanish Golf Club is the perfect spot to enjoy a game of golf.
Prestigious national amateur tournaments grace the links at Machrihanish year on year, underlining the fact that this is one of Scotland's true gems, and is well worth the drive.
Great course fantastic lay out. Greens had winter work done and a little slow, mind 45mph wind didn’t help
The wind blew just enough to make it interesting. 148 years in the making this golf course is legendary. Even better Tom Watson turned up on the day which made it even more special. You can see why foreigners flock to the course and better still we all played well.
Lovely weather made the experience lovely. Sadly Machrihanish has no range to warm up and the nets were out of action. The putting green next to the pro shop is all in a slope and not particularly representative of the greens on the course and because it’s all on a slope getting the pace is tricky. Staff were friendly and we enjoyed our round. The last few holes are a little disappointing probably because they border the 9 hole course then farmland, loosing the pretty sand dunes
A most enjoyable golf experience. Surely should be on all golfers bucket list.
Fantastic
A stunning venue, made difficult by the driving rain and strong breeze throughout!
The course lived up to the hype and this setting is magnificent. A real 'bucket list' experience and the staff in both the pro shop and clubhouse were top notch; a credit to their area.
Great experience only dampened by odd periods of rain
Course was good a few blind second shots greens were not the best
A classic golf course, played in windy but dry conditions. Greens a bit slow but it is October. My only complaint is the placing of the yellow tees which, on 3 occasions made carries too long for the average length golfer. Stunning new clubhouse.
We had poor weather however the course was in great condition and you cannot detract from the course because of poor weather
Very punishing if you stray off the fairway and difficult to pick lines if playing for the first time.
Majestic true links course which was such fun to play. Lovely clubhouse with amazing views.
Superb course; my 4th game there. Clubhouse burnt down so not much they could do about that; not over-friendly.
Fantastic links with amazing scenery and views. Loved every minute of it. The only negative was that they had just done their autumn work on the greens. Would definitely recommend it though.
Championship course in a wonderful location. Well worth the trip down to play this course.
