What’s the weirdest thing you have ever found on a golf course?
I know I was slightly startled when I found a lump of ice the size of a football (soccer ball to the misinformed who may be reading this) but can you imagine coming across a live shark – and no we are not talking about Greg Norman – thrashing around on the course with no water in sight?!
Well that’s what golfers who were enjoying a day on the fairways at San Juan Hills Golf Club in California found. You may be thinking there are plenty of Californian Golf Clubs located right by the sea and you would be right. The likes of Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Torrey Pines all enjoy seaside locations in America’s Golden State but this particular golf club is located a full 4 miles from the coast!
Ok…we know this is hardly Jaws but still a strange thing to find thrashing around on the golf course!
It is thought to have been dropped by a bird of prey and considering the shark was just a nipper that may well be the only logical explanation but still…quite a shocking thing to stumble across during a round of golf!
The shark was put in a bucket of water by staff members of the golf club and later released back into the sea.
Now we have heard of it raining cats and dogs but sharks?!
