Tiger Woods former coach can cure your slice!
Simon Holmes is one of the most respected golf coaches in the world, having worked with elite players including Sir Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, and Darren Clarke.
In the lesson below Simon looks three key points to stop the slice put on the golf ball.
1. Shoulders aligned with feet & target.
2. Position your back foot behind your front.
3. Bring the club low and around your body with impact.
Shoulders aligned with feet & target
Slicers of the golf ball tend to have a chest aim that is way off the lineup of their feet. They feel they need to compensate for the movement in the shot they are about to hit.
This means the club is path will follow that chest aim.
Position back foot slightly behind front foot
Moving your back foot backwards a little can help with lining up your chest aim. This will help to align the path of the club with the target.
You may still move the ball but it should now be more of a fade than a slice.
Bring the club low and around your body with impact
The final part is to change your hand path from high and away to low and close. Feel the toe of the club getting into the ball, rather than the heel. Visualise swinging around a corner rather than straight down the target line and exit the swing more towards the body, not away from it.
