Best time to go
The best time to visit Morocco for golf is from October to May with the peak season running from November to April.
During this time, the weather is generally mild and comfortable, with daytime temperatures around 20°C-25°C, making it ideal for golf. The courses are less crowded and well-maintained between December to February although the weather can be quite cool and wet.
Overall, the best time to visit Morocco for golf depends on your preferences and your tolerance to the weather conditions.
The Beaches
Morocco is blessed with wonderful beaches lapped by both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean – its
Med coastline alone stretches 500km. Between Agadir and Essaouira, lies Taghazout Bay, where
golfers who also enjoy riding waves will find one of the best surfing spots in Morocco. Surfing is year
round (as is the sunshine) with summer waves for beginners and winter rolling waves to tempt those
with more experience.
The Culture
Wander across Marrakech, nicknamed the Red City for the colour of its fortified city walls and find
your way to the heart of the medina as the evening draws to explore the colourful Jemaa El Fna
square and watch snake charmers, musicians and anything that can be sold exchange hands.
You can enjoy a walk through the labyrinth-like souks of Marrakech but also other cities including
Essaouira, Rabat, Fez, Meknes, Tetouan and Tangier. Not only can you buy (or haggle) anything as a
memento of your visit but you can also see craftsmen busy creating their goods made of metal,
leather or cloth.
Hammams are such an intrinsic part of Moroccan culture and life. You can find traditional ones
throughout the country. Many hotels from large resorts to small boutique riads offer spas, generally open for both guests and non-guests. Hotels by the coast may also have thalassotherapy centres, using sea water for their pools and treatments.
The Gastronomy
Morocco’s cuisine is legendary. Try the famous ‘pastille’, traditionally made as a pigeon pie dish
cooked with almonds in a filo pastry case. And if you are by the sea there will be a seafood version which is not to be missed.
Grilled seafood and meats can be enjoyed anywhere in Morocco alongside gorgeous and colourful
salads but the true stars are the delicate and flavourful tagines, with lamb, chicken or beef slow-
cooked in those iconic pots with conical lids.
